and traffic. good morning. >> going to be a pretty nice one today. although on satellite there's plenty of cloud cover. we don't have to worry about the rain that's falling apart. that will be an issue tomorrow. some sun is possible early through the thinning of this cloud cover. then clouds get thicker and the frontal boundary starts to push closer to us. overnight we begin to pick you up some of that rain. ahead of a front we usually stay mild and we still have. 54 degrees in philadelphia right now. allentown has been a little bit below the curve at 43 but down the pike in reading, 53. 53 in trenton, four in both sea isle city and at the airport in atlantic city. winds are still gently flowing out of the southwest which is going the keep us on the mild side today. remember, it's milder down south than it is up north so you always like that southerly wind. and single digit winds across the region this morning so we're looking very light and very comfortable out there. still need a jacket or a sweatshirt if you're catching the were bus between 6:00 or eight, mid-50's by 8 o'clock, light winds partly cloudy. as we roll to school and then

through the day, we are looking at a milder afternoon again. 56 degrees by 8 o'clock, by noon, 65. by 3 o'clock, you'll be at 67 and i actually. expecting a high of 68 right in there at about 2 o'clock. it will be a pretty nice walk home from school today. 61 degrees by 6 o'clock. clouds gathering as the day goes on. we're still looking after rain tomorrow and it could be raining by the time most of us get up in the morning, karen, maybe even you and me and that's early. >> that is early. it rains that early, too, that's right. all right. as you head out the door right now, no weather related problems. rain for tomorrow so we're looking good and no construction here. it cleared on the schuylkill expressway westbound here near city avenue. i'm just full of good news. but we have an accident here in hilltown township bucks county. police are on the scene but the accident's off to the shoulder so not causing too much of an issue on 309 southbound past green top road and they're in the process of clearing that one out. i don't think that will be an issue much longer. we have been waiting for an opening in the burlington bristol bridge. we're still waiting. watch for that.

you'll see traffic stopped here. your alternate is the turnpike connector bridge but we have construction westbound on the turnpike correct blocking the right lane so that will cause you an issue if you take that as your alternate to the burlington bristol to. outside we go on the ben franklin bridge, looking good on a wednesday morning. no issues between the tolls and eighth and vine so you're good to go right now, matt. >> thanks, karen. police are giving us a new look at a person of interest in the kidnapping of a woman in germantown and they hope someone watching right now will help identify the man and help bring the victim home safely. "action news" reporter katherine scott is live at northwest detectives with the latest on this investigation. good morning, katherine. >> reporter: good morning, matt and police do have new leads in this case. they have better images to work with, so investigators here at the northwest detective division are working with authorities in maryland and the fbi to help track down this missing woman. 22-year-old carlesha freeland-gaither was abducted from a germantown street sunday night. now we have a clearer picture of a person of interest in

this case. it was captured around 6 o'clock monday morning inside a convenience store in aberdeen, maryland. around the time police say this man used freeland-gaither's debit card at a nearby pnc bank. fbi agents were on the ground yesterday searching for this video and other evidence. we're also now seeing the first moments when freeland-gaither came in contact with her abductor on sunday. he reach his hand out to her on the 5400 block of green street. you see her slowly back away. >> she's backing away as she's looking at him 'cause she knows something is up. we don't know if he said anything to her or what happened at that point in time the man lunged at her. freeland-gaither's family says they moved from maryland several years ago and left behind an obsessed boyfriend. police confirm they have leads and persons of interests including this man. her family just wants her home. >> just let her go. i just want her home. we don't want y'all, we don't

cycle. republicans now control both houses of congress. they captured the senate for the first time since 2006 and added to their majority in the house. erin o'hearn continues our political coverage live at the big board and has more on next year's congressional break down. erinism good morning, matt. we have certainly seen a lot of red this morning. this major republican victory will likely complicate president obama's final two years in office. so, this is how the u.s. senate looks right now. republicans have 52 seats and the democrats have 45 seats including independents. the number in gray here represents virginia and alaska which are too close to call and louisiana which is headed for a runoff. now, as expected the gop picked up senate seats in arkansas, south dakota and west virginia. but they also won hard fought races in north carolina, colorado and iowa. republicans also dominated in governor's races including president obama's home state of illinois. they also dug into deep blue

states capturing the governor's mansions in massachusetts, in maryland and of course mitch mcconnell pulled off a win after a grueling campaign and is likely to be the next senate majority leader. >> this turned out to be a national election, a national wave, senators governors, house members, this was that anti-democrat across-the-board. >> reporter: so after this bruising defeat president obama must now forge a new path forward working with republicans. he has invited both parties to meter with him on friday. now, what's interesting is even though republicans pulled off a decisive win exit polls indicated that voters were dissatisfied with both parties. only one in five voters saying that they trust the government to do the right thing. matt. >> kind of confusing signals there. >> reporter: it is. >> thanks erin. another race we had our eye on was in delaware. bethany hall long kept her seat in the state senate narrowly defeating john marino. the race made headlines last month when haul long's husbands was caught snatching

marino's campaign signs from people's long in middletown. haul long is facing misdemeanor theft charges. we have results from all of the local races on 6abc.com including the congressional races in pennsylvania, new jersey and delaware. state races and ballot questions. >> happening today, the philadelphia school district will resume hearings on whether or not to shut down a local charter school. an inquiry showed the walter palmer charter school has under performed and violated its charter over the past six years. and its problems have throwed high profile incidents. just last month the high school abruptly shut down leaving 300 students with nowhere to go. and school officials kicked out 250 grade school students because the school is unable to pay its bills. >> dave murphy who continues to garner a vast majority of the vote has the accuweather forecast. >> not even campaigning. okay. storm tracker 6 live double scan right now shows you that we are dry this morning and as we take a look outside, a fair amount of cloud cover overall today. there's the adventure aquarium

in camden but we are looking at an increase in clouds. temperatures once again are mild. in fact, as you step outside today, light winds. you don't see that camera bouncing very much and fairly comfortable temperatures. the number in philadelphia currently is 54 degrees. your winds are out of the south-southwest at just 6 miles per hour so not too bad. grab a jacket or a sweatshirt and you're in great shape. satellite shows you there's a lot of cloud cover especially out to our west. any morning sunshine will probably gradually give way to more clouds and while it looks like most of this rain sort of falls apart before it gets here later tonight some more rain may redevelop and by tomorrow morning we're looking at wet conditions. for now, dry, fairly comfortable and as we roll through the day, staying on the mild side, 56 degrees by 8 o'clock. by 11 o'clock, 63 and your high today of 68 hits fairly early in the afternoon, around 2 o'clock before we zip back down to 63 degrees by 5 o'clock. again, clouds increasing as the day goes on. high temperatures little bit of a range today. only 65 in allentown, 64 in trenton. bit closer to 68 in

philadelphia and other areas nearby. as we take a look at tomorrow morning, though, it does look like some rain arrives and by 5:30, when we're on the air here on "action news," we'll probably have storm tracker 6 live double scan showing you at least some steady to moderate showers. it looks like most of this is off and on through the morning commute. the latest model indications are for kind of a lull through most of the day. there could be a spotty shower or period of rain that comes through. and then tomorrow evening there will be a little bit more of this. overall we're only looking for about a half inch to inch of rain. but in the events of steadier rain, if we happen to get a period of that you want to be careful of ponding and puddling in the roads especially around backed up storm drains with all those leaves that got loan off the trees this weekend getting in there and clogging things up. another word to the wise, if you're a home owner and you have a low lying gutter that you can get to pretty easily you might want to clear out some of those leaves that piled up this weekend just in case you get some steady rain, you don't want those gutters backing up. your seven-day forecast sun giving way o clouds, a high of

connector you have to watch out because we have construction westbound on it blocking the right lane. let's take a quick look at your commuter traffic report and i like this 'cause we can just check the suburbs everywhere. this is limerick, 422 no problems, route 100 no issues as well. we can kind of scan all over the area north coventry township, no one is reporting in problems. so far it's a pretty good looking morning commute. no weather related problems affecting you today so you're looking good and it's kind of mild. 51 degrees in quakertown, 50 in center city. normally an overnight low this time of year about 42 so a little bit above that. 48 though in browns mills and hammonton but 52 this morning in glassboro as you're headed out the door. matt and tam. >> thank you karen. we've learned the name of the man who was murdered while driving yesterday in philadelphia's juniata section. police say 38-year-old hurley mccallie of lawndale was shot and killed around 3 o'clock yesterday afternoon. he was driving on i street right near the coca-cola bottling company when someone on the street shot him.

commissioner roger goodell knew he had attacked his wife in an atlantic city elevator long before the full video of the incident went public. he also says the league is punishing him multiple times for the same thing. goodell will testify under oath at the appeal. minnesota vikings star adrian peterson will not go to jail on child abuse charges. he reached a plea deal in the case involving his four-year-old son. peterson was indict in there september for using a wooden switch to beat the boy in texas. as part of the deal, he pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor charge of reckless assault and will pay a $4,000 fine and perform 80 hours of community service. >> ringling brothers and barnum and bailey circus is being blamed for that hair raising stunt that hurt eight acrobats. the acrobats were injured on may fourth when the clip snapped and they all fell 15 feet to the floor. osha proposed a $7,000 fine for the parent company of the circus. the report says a clip was not properly loaded by circus staff. the company disagrees with the
